Carbon Offsetting
Social Avenue uses carbon offsetting to help reduce the impact of our products and services.
This is only one of the ways we work hard to make our services more environmentally friendly.
Last year we planted trees to offset the entire carbon emmissions created by all our services.
The Environment & Social Avenue
As a business both Social Avenue and our parent BareFlame Limited consume a large amount of electricity to power our servers, laptops, computers and offices. We recognise that this, along with our other daily activities, can have a negative impact on the environment and our surroundings.
One of the first thing BareFlame Limited did when setting up the business was to ensure that all services are provided "Carbon Neutral".
Providing a truly Carbon Neutral services means BareFlame Limited must buy Carbon Credits, this is now done through our partner, Plant A Tree Today (PATT).
Buying Carbon Credits (Carbon Offsetting) means that we invest in projects that plant tress and provide other environmental benefits. This in turn removes or reduces the amount of CO2 in the environment equivalent to that put their by Social Avenue's services over the past year.
Doing more
We don't just want to buy our way out of trouble, it's not cost effective and not the way things should be done.
We are investing in more energy efficient technologies which consume less electricity, which in turn reduces our costs, your fees and the impact of our services on our surroundings.
In the office
1) Reducing our use of paper products, we reuse all waste paper for note pads and where it's unusable (eg. shredded paper), we recycle. We are working towards having a paperfree office in the very near future.
2) The kettle is only ever filled with the water required to make the exact number of cups of tea/coffee (delete as preferred) required. Seriously, boiling just the required amount of water each time you make a cuppa can really help reduce your electricity bill!
3) Powering down computers when not in use is a must for us. All employees leaving the office for the day, must power down the machines. Forget and it will cost them £1 (donated to the Plant A Tree Today Fund).
